Miss Lisa

Mrs Lisa McGowan was Co-Principal of the Rogerson Ballet Academy for 13 years.  Lisa is a BBO Dance Registered Teacher and Examiner and SMPAA teaches the BBODance Syllabus for all styles of dance. She also is a fully qualified teacher with a R.A.D. Diploma in Teaching.  She is also a F.A.T.D. Licentiate Member Tap and Modern Dance and was an F.A.T.D. Executive Panel Member for ten years.

Lisa resides in Cooma took on SMPAA following the unexpected passing of Lisa Brooks in 2017, after working closely with her as part of Cooma Dance Co for 10 years.

 

Lisa was an appointed Member of the R.A.D. ACT / Riverina Regional Advisory Panel for three years.

Lisa was responsible for choreography in the Journey to the Olympics and Opening Ball.  Students danced in parades and concerts, Lisa was an official Marshall in Parades, for the Sydney Olympics.

 

Lisa travelled extensively overseas, particularly in Europe, where she studied the various choreographic techniques and styles of the major dance companies. Previous students have performed with Royal Ballet London, Australian Ballet, Graz Ballet Co, New Zealand Ballet, Disney Productions, Dance Encore Productions Dianne Heaton, Star Casino, Darc Swan, W.A Performing Arts, Moulin Rouge, Bootmen and Caribbean Cruises and Saturday Night Fever.

 

Her students consistently achieve high results in set examination, eisteddfods and other dance competitions, both as solo competitors and in troupes choreographed by her.  Her successes at City of Sydney Eisteddfod are note-worthy, past students awarded bronze Adeline Genee and finalist Prix de Lausanne.

 

She taught H.S.C Ballet for five years with outstanding results.  Past students being first in 2 and 3 Unit Classical Ballet Performance.

 

Lisa has adjudicated over 30 dance competitions in New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand. For several years, Lisa was an official judge at the South Pacific Dance Championships, conducted by the Federal Association of Theatrical Dance. Lisa was happy to be asked to return to Royal South Street Competitions (Vic), Redlands Dance Festival (Qld), CSTD Melbourne, South SA Stage Dance Competitions, Time to Shine, Grafton and Wollongong Eisteddfod.
